Focusing on Life: Week 24 - GREEN!

This week's prompt from Sally over at
for the weekly photo challenge was:

GREEN!

"The color of balance, learning, growth and harmony!
GREEN evokes feelings of calm and
symbolizes self-respect and well being.

*Grab your cameras and find some green!
*Note: Your photo as a whole does not have to be all green in color.

Look for pops of green against a contrasting color or muted colors! Have Fun!"

I just LOVE Green!!

It's one of my favorite colors!

So, last weekend I was at my sis's cabin having "Girlfriend's Weekend" and we were surrounded by GREEN.

Flowers in the meadow by the  Cabin

Which is totally awesome given the fact that a couple of summer's ago the Wallow Fire ripped right through the meadow you see pictured here and took out so much beautiful GREEN!

The Meadow

But I think this is my favorite GREEN.

This is Coco, our Peach-Faced Love Bird. He's about 7 years old and is a bit camera shy!
His "Honey" is named Kiki and she's very shy! She's also sitting on some 'egglets'
at the momemnt - Coco's gonna be a Daddy!!

Coco Green!

Hop on over to The Studio Sublime and check out all the GREEN that captured every one's attention this week!

Until Next Time,

Peace, Love and GREEN, Baby!

Cheers,
~Shel~

  1. Oh Coco, what a star! Such a beautiful bunch of greens on him, what a handsomeness with that touch of bright blue and peach to have your eye checking him out all over. Must be fun to have a bird. My cats would make short work of one though :)

    1. Yep, he's a real 'looker'! He's fun till I have to clean up after he and his little honey (every other day their cage gets cleaned - I'm kind of a freak about it!) and he likes my sister's cat believe it or not. They 'talk' to each other - it's rather funny!!

  5. What a beautiful place to get away from it all - wonderful scenery and the iris look stunning in that field. Your little bird is a rather handsome fella isn't he - I like his shade of green very much, especially with the peachy colours!

    1. Cynthia, Coco's our Peach-Faced Love Bird and he's our family pet. He's about 7 years old. His honey's name is Kiki - she's only about 1 year old and she's the same colors as Coco only a bit more 'muted'. Males are always brighter/prettier in the wild! LOL!! ;-)

  8. What lovely example of green! I love the shot with the blue sky in contrast to all the green. But, your birdie is just too cute too. I love that they are named Coco and Kiki. It made me giggle.

  13. Your meadow shot is gorgeous. How beautiful to have a girls weekend at the cabin. Your love bird is adorable! I would gladly have you over for tea on the front porch. Of course we would have to have some beading time too. I wish you were closer too.

    1. Thanks Ema - and yes, our weekend was beautiful indeed. Your front porch view and the view from my sis's cabin have a lot in common - they're both simply beautiful!! And green,...at least at this time of year, right?!! :-)

    1. Thanks Janet, and yes, the meadow recovered w/in a few weeks of the fire,...the trees and underbrush however are a different story, but we're so grateful for what's coming back to life so far.

    2. There's an exhibit at Yellowstone that talks about how an area recovers from a fire. It was interesting how much it actually helps long term, but humans don't get to enjoy the total recovery in our lifetime. Or at least what we'd like to see recovered.

Hey - any time you want to go for a boat ride - give me a holler! ; )

  18. Just love Coco. I just got back from taking our kitty to the vets and another pet owner brought in their pet bird while I was there which caused much commotion between cat and bird. Coco is much more beautiful! And the meadow shot is so wonderful.

    1. Thanks Paula. I bet the bird/kitty meeting was a site to see! They're probably used to things like that at the Vet's but it's always rather interesting to witness, isn't it?! My sis's cat likes Coco,...he sits by his cage and then Coco comes to sit down by Cosmo (kitty),...it's a rather funny site at times!

    1. Thank you Mischelle - the meadow is a wonderful place,...the grass is to tall for us to lay out in or we'd probably be out there all summer!!

  20. Does Coco talk? The irises in the field are lovely... they are quite different from the ones that grow wild in the ditches her.. the lupins and the irises don't grow in the same ditches it's one or the other!

    1. Unfortunately Coco doesn't talk. But he does mimic some sounds,...like clicking noises or "kissing" sounds. I'll smack my lips together twice and say "kiss-kiss" when I put him and Kiki to bed at night,..and he 'kiss-kisses' back w/two little chirping/clicking noise - it's very cute! But he can be rather loud and annoying most days,...Kiki's more girlie-girl and not as noisy as her boyfriend!! LOL!!
